When fire watch is required
Fire watch is typically required when your fire alarm, sprinkler system, or water supply is
impaired and the building is still occupied. It’s not optional—it’s part of staying compliant
with fire code and insurance requirements.
What our fire watch officers do
- Conduct regular interior and/or exterior rounds at agreed intervals (e.g. every 15–30 minutes).
- Inspect designated routes for smoke, fire, or unsafe conditions.
- Keep written logs with times, initials, and observations for each round.
- Maintain readiness to contact 911 and initiate evacuation if needed.
- Report system restoration and changes in status to management.
Properties that often need fire watch
- Apartments & condos under renovation with system outages.
- Commercial buildings undergoing system upgrades or panel replacements.
- Construction or TI projects where systems aren’t fully online yet.
- Healthcare or high-occupancy facilities during temporary impairments.
How we coordinate with your fire marshal and vendors
We’ll align our rounds and documentation with what your AHJ (authority having jurisdiction),
fire marshal, or risk manager expects. When your alarm vendor restores the system, we log the
transition and stand down according to your policy.
